An ambitious journey to connect with the best retailers in the convenience store and car wash industries
This year, I embarked on an unforgettable journey that took me from the scenic hills of the Berkshires to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. As a sales manager at Liquid Barcodes, my travels were not just about exploring new places, but also about connecting with some of the best retailers in the convenience store industry. Here’s a glimpse into my adventure.
Fun in the snow and Sam’s Food Stores
My journey began in the picturesque New England Berkshires, where I enjoyed exhilarating springtime cross-country skiing and fun in the snow with family. The fresh mountain air and serene landscapes were the perfect start to my trip.
After a frosty morning exploring the snow-covered trails, I knew it was time for something warm, so we dashed into the closest Sam’s Food Stores for some much-needed coffee and cocoa!
Sam’s Food Stores is a well-known name in the convenience store industry and a multi-generational powerhouse with big plans for the future. I am proud to see my good friend Sulemaan Khalid playing a key role in Sam’s Food Stores drive for innovation and expansion!
Right Around the Corner at Seasons Corner Market
Next, I made my way to Rhode Island to spend time with the team at Seasons Corner Market. Known for providing one of the best neighborhood convenience store experiences in New England, Seasons Corner Market impressed me with their commitment to excellence. Their beautifully designed stores are clean, organized, and filled with high-quality, locally sourced products. The team’s dedication to leveraging technology to enhance customer experiences with their brand was inspiring and reflected an innovative mindset.
My visit to their locations wouldn’t be complete without topping off my tank, treating my car to a Shine365 “The Works” package car wash, picking up some snacks, and grabbing a cup of Marylou’s Coffee. The convenience of having fuel, a car wash, and coffee in one place exemplifies Seasons Corner Market’s dedication to customer convenience.
Connecting Pizza and Hospitality at Neon Marketplace
Continuing my journey, I visited the vibrant team at Rhode Island-based Neon Marketplace. Known for its exceptional pizza and hospitality, Neon Marketplace is a standout in the convenience store sector. The team welcomed me with open arms, and we had a great discussion about how Liquid Barcodes’ dynamic couponing platform could make their customer loyalty programs outstanding. The passion and dedication of the Neon Marketplace team were evident, and their commitment to delivering a top-notch customer experience left a lasting impression on me.
Visiting Friends at Yatco and Finding Inspiration
One of the highlights of my “grand tour” was visiting Yatco. I had the pleasure of meeting the team on their home turf and discussing the innovative strategies they’re using to enhance customer service, expand their fantastic brand, and establish Yatco as a household name. Doing the right things year after year, having determination and grit, and also having intellectual leadership is a recipe for powerful success! The story of Yatco is truly inspiring and perfectly embodies the American dream.
During this store visit, I was thrilled to bump into an incredible industry friend and convenience store veteran. Of course, I couldn’t resist snapping a quick photo to capture the moment! It’s people like Barry who make me love the convenience store industry – dedicated, tireless, and always radiating positivity. This unexpected meet-up was a delightful reminder of the tight-knit community we share in this industry. I’m already looking forward to seeing everyone again at the upcoming store openings over the next few months. The Yatco buzz is just beginning!
A Relaxing Stop at Hot Spot in Myrtle Beach
My journey also led me to the stunning shores of Myrtle Beach, where I couldn’t miss a visit to Hot Spot!
Hot Spot combines convenience with a touch of local charm. I even snagged some Hot Spot swag and had a great time chatting with the team about how they make each customer interaction memorable. Their commitment to customer satisfaction and community involvement was truly impressive! Shawn Holmes and his team provided the ultimate experience in Southern Hospitality during my time at Hot Spot. Looking forward to stopping in again on my next road trip down south!
Seattle: Family, Friends, and Industry Connections
After my East Coast explorations, it was time to head to the West Coast for some family time in Seattle! The not-so-common sunny weather and laid-back vibe were a refreshing change. The diversity of retailers and their unique approaches to customer engagement provided valuable insights into the mind of the West Coast retailer. I especially enjoyed my time with the team at Nisqually Markets!
