7-Eleven Denmark partnered with MobilePay to allow users to purchase items and gift them to friends via the app.
7-Eleven Denmark shines once again with its forward-thinking strategic approach to customer connections and this time, by partnering with MobilePay, a digital currency and gift exchange app in Denmark.
MobilePay allows users to send money, gift cards and digital product gifts through retailers. With 4.4 million users and around 200,000 connected stores in Denmark.
7-Eleven Denmark, helmed by innovator CEO Jesper Ostergaard, partnered with MobilePay to allow users to purchase items and gift them to friends via the app. The recipient receives a voucher to redeem the gift, whether it is a coffee, a snack or an entire meal, at a physical store location of their choice. Operated by Reitan Convenience Denmark, 7-Eleven Denmark is Denmark’s leading convenience retailer with 178 stores with key partnerships such as Shell and DSB, Denmark’s national train operator.
7-Eleven Denmark is a global award-winning retailer, recognized frequently by peers for their industry-leading fresh and healthy food offering and innovative use of technology. In 2019, Ostergaard and the team from Reitan Convenience in Denmark were crowned NACS International Convenience Retailer of the Year.
Award-Winning Approach
A key element of the 7-Eleven team’s commitment to customers was to connect beyond the store. Many years ago, the partnership with Liquid Barcodes was established, allowing 7-Eleven’s marketing team develop a digital platform that is used to educate, engage and inspire customers.
The 7-Eleven app has enjoyed significant downloads, and uses an engaging gamification approach to drive footfall and loyalty, as well as support customer’s needs for nutrition information, deals and mobile payment functionality in a way that truly differentiates the brand.
Earlier 7-Eleven partnered with DSB, the Danish Railways, and again the innovative team is going beyond their own app to win the hearts of the Danish consumers with a ground-breaking partnership with MobilePay. The MobilePay solution is powered by the GoGift and Liquid Barcodes technologies.
