Q8 Spain has moved its loyalty program fully into customers' hands, replacing a physical points card with the ClubQ8 app. Members earn points on every fuel fill-up and in-store purchase, track their balance in real time, and redeem rewards.

Q8 Builds on a Strong Iberian Foundation

Q8 is the international brand of Kuwait Petroleum International, which operates a network of more than 4,000 service stations across Europe. In Spain, Kuwait Petroleum España runs more than 100 Q8 service stations serving both private consumers and business customers, including fleet operators and professional drivers.

"This balanced approach enables us to grow our presence in both the consumer and professional mobility markets," said Abdullah Alroumi, retail and marketing manager for Q8 Spain. He added that the company's ambition is to continue expanding across the Iberian Peninsula by providing high-quality fuels, an efficient refueling experience, and services that meet the evolving needs of drivers and businesses.

"Digitalization and loyalty programs play a central role in this strategy, helping us build stronger relationships with our customers and create value that goes far beyond the refueling transaction itself," Abdullah asserted.

From a Physical Card to a Digital Ecosystem

ClubQ8 replaces the previous Q8 Tarjetísima Puntos physical card program, moving loyalty from a physical transaction-based model into a complete digital customer loyalty experience.

Once registered, customers earn 5 points for every liter of regular fuel, 10 points for every liter of premium fuel and 2 points for every Euro spent in-store. New members receive 100 bonus points when they join. Points convert into credit that can be applied directly at checkout, whether at the pump or inside the store, and the app keeps that balance and purchase history always up to date.

Within this comprehensive loyalty app, customers can play games, access exclusive discounts and promotions and use the store locator to find stations nearby.

“ClubQ8 is about much more than collecting points. It has become a key customer engagement platform, allowing us to deliver exclusive promotions, personalized offers and special campaigns directly to our users," said Abdullah.

A Partnership Built for Speed and Insight

Abdullah noted the service station industry is changing quickly, with consumers now expecting convenience, immediacy and a more personalized relationship with the brands they use every day. “We wanted to evolve our loyalty model into a proposition that is more digital, flexible and relevant for today’s customers,” he shared. To support the strategy, Q8 Spain chose to work with Liquid Barcodes, a loyalty and subscription platform for convenience retailers.

"We partnered with Liquid Barcodes, whose expertise in the convenience and mobility sectors provided us with the capabilities we were looking for, including promotions, customer segmentation, automation and gamification," Abdullah shared. The goal, he explained, was a platform that would let Q8 launch initiatives quickly, better understand customer behavior and refine its value proposition in a simple, agile way.
That work also gives Q8 a clearer view of customer preferences and purchasing habits, which the company uses to shape more relevant communications, promotions and rewards.

Loyalty as a Longer-Term Relationship

Q8's aim with ClubQ8 goes beyond savings. Abdullah said the company wants the app to improve the entire customer experience before, during, and after a visit to the pump, while also increasing visit frequency, strengthening preference for Q8, encouraging the use of premium fuels and driving in-store purchases.

"Our goal is for ClubQ8 to transform loyalty into an experience that is more useful, more personal and more digital," he said. "For customers, this means greater savings and access to exclusive benefits. For Q8, it means building stronger, higher-value relationships that are measurable and better prepared for the future of mobility and energy retail."
The ClubQ8 app is available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
