When the App Becomes the Store

Customers now expect to order from their phones. They order lunch from their desk, snacks for the game, and a forgotten carton of milk on the way home. If your loyalty app can't take that order, Uber Eats or DoorDash will.

For years, loyalty has centered on the pump or the store. A member pulls up, scans the app, earns points, and hopefully redeems a free coffee on the way out. That still matters, but it is no longer the whole picture.

With the Liquid Barcodes and Vroom Delivery integration, you can own that occasion and so many more. Vroom builds digital commerce for convenience retail, covering delivery and pickup, kiosk ordering, and marketplace integration with Uber Eats, DoorDash, and similar services. Connected to a Liquid Barcodes app by a secure SSO (Single Sign-On), ordering becomes part of the same loyalty experience your members already know, rather than a separate trip to someone else's platform.

Turning a Fuel Customer Into an App Customer

Consider Jose, who fills his truck at the same station every morning on his way to a job site. His receipt history is almost all fuel, with an occasional energy drink. He has never thought of the store as a place to order dinner.

Then a Friday night spin of the daily game lands him a free delivery. Ten minutes later, he ordered pizzas, sodas, and beers for the family without leaving the couch. His points post to the same balance he uses at the pump. For the retailer, a fuel-only customer just became a food customer, and the loyalty program made it happen.

Start Simple, Then Go Further

The Liquid Barcodes and Vroom integration comes in two levels.

  • Single sign-on. Members are logged in automatically and land on the menu for their nearest store. Behind the scenes, the app securely shares the member's profile with Vroom, including their loyalty number and age verification status, so nobody has to create a second account or remember another password.
  • Loyalty. This is where ordering and rewards become one program. Members earn and redeem rewards on online orders just as they do at the counter. Vroom connects to the Liquid Barcodes platform using Conexxus industry standards, so the platform treats an online order like any other purchase.

Meeting Customers Where They Are

Erin works night shifts at the hospital down the street. She doesn't have time to shop, but she does have 10 minutes and her phone. With single sign-on, one tap opens the menu for the store closest to her, already signed in. She places a pickup order for coffee and a sandwich, walks in, grabs it, and heads back. The coffee counts toward her stamp card like it always has.

Turning Delivery Into a Reward

Delivery fees are often the reason a customer hesitates before checking out. Retailers can work with Vroom to turn that hesitation into motivation.

Picture five free deliveries as the grand prize in a seasonal game, or a flash promotion offering free delivery on a rainy Sunday afternoon. These offers plug into the same gamification and segmentation and targeting tools retailers already use, so a free delivery can go to the members most likely to try ordering for the first time. That first order is often the hardest one to win. Once a member sees how easy it is, the second order comes much more naturally.

One Program, Every Channel

The real payoff of the partnership is simplicity for the member. There is one app, one account, and one rewards balance, whether someone shops in the store, orders ahead, or gets delivery at home.

Online orders appear in the member's receipt history in the app, next to their in-store purchases. Members see every order in one place, and retailers know their delivery customers and their loyalty members are the same person.

Ensuring customers experience familiar branding, Vroom also manages kiosk ordering and marketplace listings, so retailers can run those channels through the same partner behind ordering in their own app.
