7-Eleven Sweden is part of Reitan Convenience and one of Sweden's leading convenience retailers, with close to 200 stores in cities and on the road as Shell/7-Eleven locations. Part of a network of more than 2,350 stores across Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, 7-Eleven Sweden selected Liquid Barcodes to power its app and physical digital paper coupons.

The Challenge

Convenience retail operates on highly variable product margins, which makes blanket loyalty discounts a risky proposition. 7-Eleven Sweden needed a customer program that kept full margin control in place while still delivering meaningful engagement and rewards. The retailer also wanted an easy and low-friction way for customers to earn stamps without requiring them to remember to scan every visit.

The Solution

7-Eleven Sweden chose a product-oriented customer program where stamp cards serve as the primary value driver. The app delivers a wide range of offers, games and engaging content that reward customers above and beyond their stamp card activity.

Key Features

  • Convenient Registration: Register using a phone number and PIN via SMS. Customers who register through payment terminals to receive digital receipts also receive stamps automatically on their stamp cards when paying with a registered payment card. This auto-stamp feature, developed in partnership with CNS and Swedbank Zamsos, gives the most loyal customers a seamless experience even when they forget to scan.

  • Stamp Cards: Rewards members are engaged in a strategic onboarding sequence from the very beginning to get the most of their program. The coffee stamp card offers three tiers: Silver, Gold and "Heaven!"

  • Short in-app surveys: Simple questions reveal customer preferences, which drive personalized content toward each customer's favorite stamp card.

  • Coupon Campaigns: Campaigns using prepared templates can be scheduled months in advance and segmented to reach specific users, reducing operational workload significantly.
